This job required the team to individually isolate and drain all systems across the accommodation, including adjusting the pipework to suit the new valves.
167 new valves were installed, making special considerations for works in the unique student accommodation buildings. Once installation was complete, all of the valves were tested and radiators were bled to ensure all systems were fit for use in time for the chilly months!
The burst water main at UoM required us to work around asbestos and involved a confined space entry (CSE) under the Engineering Building, so with these high risk works required, as always safety was paramount. A flooded Ground Floor and tunnel required several pumps to remove the water!
We immediately installed temporary water mains to supply the surrounding buildings, as well as new isolation valves. The water main was repaired on both sides of the tunnel. This involved cutting out the old main, and reconnect with 20m of 180mm HDPE piping.
This quarters calendar was a busy one with many days of significance and recognition! We celebrated World Plumbing Day, Women in Construction Week, World Day for Safety and Health at Work, and our 40 year Anniversary with Reece!

I’m right where I want to be, at the top of my game being a registered irrigator and plumber. The clientele of Reliable allows me to keep being innovative and challenge myself to continuously offer a new way of thinking.
