As part of Deakin University’s commitment to achieving carbon neutral campuses by 2025, they required a design and construct solution to replace existing gas fired equipment with more sustainable systems.
Reliable Plumbing Services shares similar values to the University, meeting their sustainable procurement principles and criteria. From initial conversations with the client, we demonstrated initiative in providing a plumbing solution which would focus on reducing their carbon emissions whilst delivering improved operational efficiency.
Our team continued to work collaboratively with the University to complete an audit, identifying a number of traditional gas fired hot water units which could be replaced with eco-friendly CO2 heat pumps and hot water storage tanks. The project was a complete turnkey solution, designing and constructing new hot water systems across 5 academic buildings and Waurn Ponds Estate – a 60 bed accommodation and conference centre.
The project ran smoothly, as we managed each element of the entire process. This included necessary permits and complimentary trades such as electricians and crane lifts. With the University not operational due to COVID-19 restrictions, the project was completed swiftly, with less people to consider around the buildings.
